About Workforce

Corners Workforce Academy and Staffing with a Purpose were created to bridge the economic needs of the community we serve with the vast labor shortages in local businesses. In building these bridges, we remain true to our core belief that education is fundamental for advancement.  

Corners Workforce Academy provides a path to long-term careers in high-paying vocational trades for young, diverse workers. We believe that the road to self-sufficiency and economic freedom is achieved through hard work, along with planning, mentorship, education and/or certifiable skills.  

During the COVID-19 pandemic, many youth fell behind or dropped out of high school in order to keep their families afloat - whether it was working to provide resources or taking care of siblings and household responsibilities. Without much experience or educational attainment, they are then forced to take low-wage jobs without opportunities for growth or career advancement.

Workforce Academy was created as a support system for Corners Academy students and the youth of Gwinnett and North Dekalb counties to support their transition into the workforce and eliminate common barriers. Workforce Academy also helps businesses meet workforce demands across the region with our highly qualified workers.

Workforce Guides
If you are interested in becoming a guide for a workforce candidate, thank you! Please fill out the form on our volunteer page and we will get in touch with more details.

Our guides act as a mentor to the candidates employed through Corners Staffing. We are looking for people of all ages, experiences, industries and cultural backgrounds. The main purpose of the guide is to help candidates adapt to their new jobs while assisting with any obstacles or challenges that may derail them from work.

The guide program is a three month commitment with a structured manual and quick training, and will consist of one hour/week per candidate at most. We will match as best as we can so that the guide and candidate pairs can relate to one another and find support in their connection. If you are interested in helping others through life and work skills as they adjust to their new jobs, this would be a great fit for you!
